Incheon International Airport offers top-notch facilities for the convenience of passengers. Oftentimes, you can see people from South Korea who are not traveling but just chilling in the airport. You can never be bored. There are a lot of cafes, restaurants, shopping spots, and exhibits inside.

They recently opened terminal two and space for passengers who have layovers widened. There is an observation deck on the fifth floor for you to see the planes. When we went there last March, the airport provided free VR experience. The VR is about how the luggage is being transported to the plane. They also offered free jump shot pictures.

We moved here in Incheon last January and I have been to incredible places, ate delicious food, and enjoyed the modern city. Here are the things to do and places Near Incheon International Airport that you must see when you have a layover

Enjoy The Flowers At Incheon International Airport Sky Garden

Incheon International Airport Sky Garden

Just less than 10 minutes from Incheon International Airport Terminal one is an enormous garden owned by Incheon International Airport Corporation.  Surprisingly, I did not find any information in English online about this place. It is so beautiful that I can’t believe that people are not writing about this.

We went there last week of May and the rapeseed flowers were in full bloom. If you are planning to see the Canola Festival in Jeju Island, this garden is perfect for you because you don’t have to travel far. There are seats in the middle of the garden for you to rest. Since it is really near the airport, you can also get a picture of the airplanes flying low. There are free shuttle buses from the airport and there is no entrance fee.  We will go ahead and check the garden during a different season to see other flowers as there was only a sea of rapeseed flowers last spring.

Ride the Magnetic Levitation For Free

Magnetic Levitation In Incheon

The unmanned train or magnetic levitation is a free ride from Incheon International Airport to Yongyu station. Aside from being free, another reason to take this train is that it provides an elevated view of the airport and its surroundings. You can see the sea nearby while taking the train.

At the end of the station, there are restaurants that serve delicious food that is cheaper than those inside the airport so this is a good hack if you are trying to save money. The magnetic levitation is currently running from 9 in the morning until 6 PM

Must-See Places Near Incheon International Airport During A Layover : Restaurant at Yongyu station

Delicious meal at Yonyu station, the last station of the magnetic levitation.

We took the train to the last station when we went there. Just a tip, even though the Maglev return to the station, you have to go down the last station and take the train on the other side.

When we arrived at Yongyu station, we ate lunch at 은행나무집.  The restaurant is just beside the road and is not big but the food is delicious. They give a lot of side dishes and I was really satisfied. Other restaurants provide only around five side dishes.

Incheon International Airport Observatory on the mountainside

This observatory offers a great view of planes taking off from terminal 1 and terminal 2. It is on the side of the mountain so you can see a wide view of both airport terminals. When we went there, we took a car so it was easy to go because there is also a parking lot.

If you are planning to take a bus, it will take about 40 minutes, including walking.  From terminal one, take the 306 bus from airport 7A bus board and leave the bus at Nareutgae Entrance station. You have to walk about 10 minutes to the observatory because it is situated higher up the hill. Alternatively, you can take bus number 302 from the same board in the airport and leave at Yongyu Elementary school. Just remember though that this route will require about a 25-minute walk.

The walk is worth it because the view from the deck is breathtaking. You can bring snacks or buy from the vending machine if you are hungry.

The observatory has two floors with glass walls. If the weather is too hot or cold, you can still see the planes from the inside. Personally, I like it outside on the balcony where I can feel the breeze.

Enjoy Cherry Blossoms Near Unseo Station When You Visit During Spring

Must-See Places Near Incheon International Airport During A Layover: 건강백년길

Cherry blossoms at 건강백년길

If you happen to visit Incheon, South Korea during spring, Unseo-dong is the nearest and has the most beautiful spots to see cherry blossoms in Incheon.

건강백년길 is a pathway that starts alongside the Unseo station. Unseo station is just two stations away from Incheon Airport Terminal 1. Every day, many people come here to exercise and enjoy the nature even if there is no cherry blossom.

There is a park in the middle of this path and people normally take a rest here from jogging. People from other villages come here during spring because of the cherry blossoms but only foreigners who live in Incheon know about the place. Another thing that I like about this pathway is that cherry blossoms are still small so you can take a selfie with the flower next to your face.

There is also a lake along the path with a telescope. I used to the telescope to see the birds swimming in the lake when I went there. You will also spot other animals here while walking. 건강백년길 is perfect for bikers as the road is not so rough. If you go further, you will see a bridge that you can cross to the sea. The sea in this part is not recommended for swimming but is good just for relaxing and feeling the sun and breeze.
