Goblin Synopsis

Goblin/KimShin (Gong Yoo) was a warrior in ancient times. He was hailed by the people because of his numerous victory in wars that led to the jealousy of the young king. Instead of being rewarded, he was murdered because of the king’s fear of his popularity. He was then turned into a goblin, a protector of souls, unable to die in the punishment of all the deaths he caused in the battle. He would only be able to rest in death when he meets his bride, who will pull out the sword stuck in his body.

In the present day, Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun) is always hiding from the Grim Reaper’s (Lee Dong Wok). The Grim Reaper is after her because she is a missing soul, and is not supposed to be in this world. Her mother was supposed to die from an accident but lived thanks to the Goblin’s help. She also has the ability to see ghosts. She lives with her aunt and is often mistreated. On her birthday, she wished for a part-time job, something to be done to her aunt’s evil family, and a boyfriend. Upon blowing the cake, she accidentally summoned the Goblin.

Later on, Kim Shin was convinced that Ji Eun Tak is his bride. He felt relief that he can finally rest but he also wanted to spend more time with her as they fall in love with each other.

My Verdict On Goblin

Goblin was a hit in South Korea, topping the drama list in 2016 and 2017. It is no wonder because of the powerhouse cast and the story. It is a fresh idea for the Grim Reaper and the Goblin to be living in the same house. The bromance is contagious. The grim reaper is simply fashionable and gorgeous. Gong Yoo is undeniably a great actor. The comedy scenes are effortless in this drama.

The love story between Kim Shin and Ji Eun Tak is every girl’s dream. Most girls dream of having a mature man taking care of them. The age gap portrayed in the drama is huge considering that Kim Shin has been living for almost 900 years.
